Hamond Lead Times for May 2005

Steel lead times continue to be relatively short, and all sorts of material is surprisingly easy to get. It isn't cheap, but steel is available again.

Predictors of the world steel market, who two months ago were saying this is a momentary pause, are now saying that prices likely won't climb higher this year, and steel availability will continue to be good.

My delivery times on smaller parts are quite good, since I have more free machine time on the smaller machines than I usually do. Not so much on the larger machines, although I do have free machine time there too in less than 2 months, which is unusual.

In addition, my post-processors are heat treating, plating, whatever, my parts faster than usual and getting parts back to me quickly.

What this means to my customers is that I can actually promise 2-3 week lead time on small parts that need no post-processing. Add another week if they need heat treating or plating. Larger parts, you'll need to actually call our salesman John to get the details, because we have the big machines are mostly booked up until July.

Parts in stock in support of an existing blanket purchase order can, as always, be shipped with only minimal delays.

Our design department is relatively free now to start new designs.

As always, you can consult our salesman John for more detailed information.
